Construction and appearance
Composite doors combine materials, with construction varying by collection. uPVC doors use a plastic frame and a selected panel or glazed design. Compare actual samples and specifications, especially if you want a particular panel style or texture.
Security and weather protection
Ask for the locking, glazing, seal and performance details of the exact model quoted. Do not assume that every product in either category has the same certification or weather resistance. Installation quality and the condition of the opening matter too.
Cleaning and ongoing care
Ask for the manufacturer’s cleaning and maintenance instructions. Locks, hinges, seals and drainage need appropriate care even when the main surface is described as low maintenance.
Front doors and back doors
For an entrance, appearance and privacy may be key. For a back door, daylight, access and the layout of a kitchen or utility room may matter more. Either decision should start with the property rather than a blanket material recommendation.
